About Us

Bank owing well equipped and palatial own buildings for its Head Office, Administrative Office, Narasaraja Road Branch and Devaraja Urs Branch.  Foundation stone of the Head office laid down by late Sri S. Nijalingappa, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Late Sri Veerendra Patil, former Chief Minister of Karnataka have opened the said building.  A site was purchased for the construction of P.J. Extension branch to commemorate the Golden jubilee function of our Bank.

On 23.06.1965, the Bank offered Bank guarantee to the Government for Bapuji Association Davangere by extending co-operation to start Medical collage at Davangere.  On 31.01.1965, 31.03.1965 and on 31.12.1962 Bank has successfully celebrated Karnataka State Urban Co-operative Bank’s conference at Davangere.  

The efforts made by our Bank to start Mysore State Urban Co-operative Federation became fruitful in the year  1966 and we proud to say that the first office of the said federation was housed in our Bank building till it shifted to Bangalore capital city of Karnataka.  Bank has given loan facility of Rs.5,000/- to its share holders to purchase shares of Doddabathi Sugar factory and became a cause for opening the said factory at Doddabathi.  Our Bank has given financial aid to National calamities like Kargil war, Gujarat earth quake, Sunami etc., Bank has provided financial aid to various organizations, associations, temples etc., for their upliftment.  Bank donated amount to purchase ‘Marali Mannige’ van (i.e., van using for carrying dead body to the funeral ground) and for improvement of Veerashiva Rudrabhumi (i.e., the land meant for cremation of dead bodies by Veerashiva community).  Bank joined its hands with the district administration of Davangere to improve the nature wealth at Doddabathi mountain.  Bank maintained ‘A’ grade throughout the carrier and working its transaction as per the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India.  Bank is subjected to periodical inspections and auditing by the officials of the Reserve Bank of India and officials of the Karnataka Co-operative societies audit cell.  

To cater the need of the customer and to provide accurate service Bank has purchased a table calculator for Rs.7,000/-.  In the year 1986 Reserve Bank has convined a training programme at Pune in Co-operative Training College.  The then manager of our Bank Sri M.C. Vijaykumar, has attended the said meeting and he got inspiration to install a computer to our Bank from infosys company.  Within a short period we are able to purchase a software from the said company in the year 1986.  

With the support of Infosys the bank has taken revolutionary step to take up the banking system through computerization and changed the accounting from manual to digital one with the then software COOP Bank by Infosys.

1994 – Second software ‘SESAME’ by General Automata Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, introduced the new technology Windows or Graphical User Interface by General Automata pvt. ltd., Bangalore which is very easier and user friendly software. This brought the new face to the software.

As time changes the technology changes.  To fill up the lacuna in the existing system and  to take up to the current demands of Banking System, the bank has taken a challenging decision.  During this period Sri M.C. Viyakumar, General Manager, a revolutionary person has taken every step in modernizations since from 1986 to the date of his retirement.  The then president Sri Athani Kotrappa and the Board of Directors with the help of the bank’s Information Technology consultants has appointed Mr. B.S. Prashanth as D.B.A. for the whole IT Incharge and bought all the new IBM computers by EssKay Technologies, Davangere and Software BANC724 by Zenith Software Ltd., Bangalore. 

The Bank is serving the needs of the customers and successfully completed its 50 years of service.  To commemorate this happy event, “Golden Jubilee” function of our Bank is to celebrated on 25.02.2012 at Davangere in Smt. Parvathamma Shivashakarappa Samudaya Bhavana and a “souvenir” is to be released.  For this happy occasion and to meet the current needs of the Bank, Board has taken necessary steps to introduce Core-Banking System and website of the Bank.
