We are the first bank to create a renaissance in the Co-Operative sector in the History of Davangere.
For the protection of the economic interests of Davangere district, on the basis of equality and cooperation, the well-known businessmen and service minded persons of our city voluntarily organized, under the guidance of Shri K. Laxman Rao, District Commissioner, Chitradurga, the well-known lawyers of the city, who was a cooperative spirit under the leadership of S. Kotrabasappa and other co-operative brothers, the inaugural meeting was held on 25.11.1961 and a decision was taken to establish a "Co-operative Bank".
Date: 19.12.1961 The businessmen of our city met again, organized and took a consensus decision which led to the rise of “ The Davangere Urban Co-operative Bank ”.
Our bank was registered on 15.01.1962 under the Mysore Co-operative Societies Act, 1959, and started its operations on 09.02.1962 by the famous industrialists of the city Dharmaprakash Rajanahalli Shri Ramshetta, in the building of Lingyakya Religious Leader Hanagavadi Math Murigeppaiah, at Narasaraja Road, Davangere.

The services of the retired General Manager Shri M.C. Vijayakumar and all the staff who worked hard for the all-round development of the bank and to become fully computerized are commendable and salutary.
Our bank started its Service by Providing loan facility to Small Traders, Middle Class People, Weaker Sections, as well as The Bank progress financially, Godown Loan, Housing Loan, Starting/Running Industry, Vehicle Loan, Salary Based Loan, loan on Gold Jewellery, etc. facilities are offered to its shareholders. Locker facilities are provided to the members.
The Head office site was purchased on Date:26.11.1966. On 01.01.1968 foundation stone held by Chief Minister Nijalingappa. On 30.09.1969 New building inaugurated by Sri Veerndra Patil.

Apart from providing financial assistance to the customers/members, our bank has also been successful in responding to social problems and contributing to the social and educational development of the city. Date: 23.06.1965 Our bank has supported the establishment of a medical college in our city by giving a bank guarantee of Rs.10.00 Lakhs to Bapuji Education Association. Dated: 30.01.1965, 31.03.1965 and 31.12.1967 State Level Urban Co-operative Banks Conference successfully holding belongs to our bank, the management board and the staff of that time. Karnataka State Federation was founded and its Office was in our bank. The Bhadra Co-Operative Sugar Factory, Doddabati has given Rs.5,000/- as a loan to the Factory Association to the members of our bank, and our bank has assisted in the establishment of the said factory. During the calamities of the country. Our bank has provided financial assistance to Kargil war, drought affected areas like Earthquake and Tsunami affected areas in Gujarat.
Keeping in mind the principle of Co-Operation, "I am for everyone, everyone is for himself", even during the Corona pandemic, the executive board members rushed to the benefit of the members/customers and immediately gave 1% discount on interest for loan to the borrowers for 6 months. It was the Very first bank among the Co-Operative Banks in Davangere District to give a discount to its Members/Customers, Bank faced a Loss of Rs.2.00 Crores in its Profit by giving this Discount, considering the welfare of the customers of the bank is important, the executive board has taken a decision that our bank will be there for the credit development of all the borrowers by giving a Partial discount in the loan due to Covid-19, which shows that profit is not the only goal in the cooperative sector.
Recently, AVIES PUBLICATION, KOLHAPUR has been dividing the co-operative banks in the country into three categories every year and recognizing the highest Co-Operative Bank in each category and recognizing "The Davangere Urban Co-Operative Bank" as the highest performing bank among the Co-Operative banks in the country with deposits of Rs.400 to 500 Crores, On Date: 05.10.2023 "National Cooperation Conference-2023" held at Daman, the reason for winning the prestigious award "Banco Blue Ribbon 2023 honor" is due to the management of the executive board of the bank.
The executive board has implemented digitalization in banking in the current competitive era and is all set to reach our bank's goal of e-competition, now the bank has provided 3 ATM, POS, QR Code Scan, UPI, IMPS to its customers. Due to this, bank customers get cash facility on all days as well.
